Honoring Entrepreneurial Excellence in the IEEE Community
IEEE offers awards that recognizing entrepreneurial excellence for which IEEE Members can be considered. Award categories include career excellence, impressive initiative and skills in entrepreneurship as well as industry leadership.
IEEE AESS Outstanding Organizational Leadership Award
Purpose
This award, established in 2007, is to recognize candidates that have the unique capability of conceiving and organizing innovative and successful events in the field of interest of the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS).
IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Industry Leader Award
Purpose
To recognize an industry executive whose leadership has resulted in major and outstanding advances and new directions in the information and communications business area.
Eligibility
An information or communication industry executive who played a major leadership role in research or development and introduction of systems, devices, applications or services that have significantly impacted the communications and information markets on a global basis and substantially advanced the use of information and communication technologies in industry, commerce, and society. The candidate is not required to be an IEEE member.
IEEE Communications Society Award for Public Service in the Field of Telecommunications
Purpose
Honoring major contributions to the public welfare through work in the field of telecommunications.
Eligibility
No restrictions.
IEEE Communications Society Industrial Innovation Award
Purpose
Honoring major industrial accomplishments, standards, deployment of important processes or products, etc, that are of substantial benefit to the public in the field of communications and information technologies and visible beyond the company or institution where the contribution was made.
Eligibility
The award shall be open to individuals at any level who were industry employees at the time of the accomplishments being recognized. Candidate need not be an IEEE member.
IEEE Computational Intellligence Society Outstanding Early Career Award
Purpose
To recognize an outstanding young scientist or engineer who contributed to the advancement of theory, technologies, and/or applications of computational intelligence through inventions, new technologies, innovative technical developments, new product implementations, or the management of innovative product design or production processes.
Eligibility
Any scientist or engineer who is not over 40 years old in the calendar year when the recipient of the award is selected is eligible.
IEEE Computer Society Computer Entrepreneur Award
Purpose:
In 1982, on the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary, the IEEE Computer Society established the Computer Entrepreneur Award to recognize and honor the technical managers and entrepreneurial leaders who are responsible for the growth of some segment of the computer industry. The efforts must have taken place over fifteen years earlier, and the industry effects must be generally and openly visible.
Eligibility:
All members of the profession are invited to nominate a colleague who they consider most eligible to be considered for this award.
IEEE Corporate Innovation Award
Purpose:
For an outstanding and exemplary innovation by an industrial entity, governmental or academic organization, or other corporate body, within the fields of interest to the IEEE.
Eligibility:
An employee of a particular company may nominate their company for the IEEE Corporate Innovation Award. In the selection process, the Corporate Innovation Award Committee need not propose an alternate in order to carry over candidates for consideration for the following year. The quality of nomination will also be considered by the selection committee.
IEEE Daniel E. Noble Award for Emerging Technologies
Purpose:
For outstanding contributions to emerging technologies recognized within recent years.
Eligibility:
An individual or a team up to three. IEEE policy requires that its awards be presented at major IEEE events that are in keeping with the nature of the award and the cited achievement.
IEEE Frederik Philips Award
Purpose:
For outstanding accomplishments in the management of research and development resulting in effective innovation in the electrical and electronics industry.
Eligibility:
An individual or a team up to three. IEEE policy requires that its awards be presented at major IEEE events that are in keeping with the nature of the award and the cited achievement.
IEEE RAS/IFR Invention and Entrepreneurship Award
Purpose:
To recognize the entrepreneurial commercialization of ideas into actual products. Nominations should cite and describe the original work that has been translated into commercial application as well as the commercial product and its success. The nomination must also describe the unique characteristics of the transformation into the commercialized product that justify the award. The current and future impact of the commercial product is a fundamental element of the merit for selection.
Eligibility:
Individual or team of individuals responsible for the contribution. IEEE-RAS membership is not required.
IEEE Region 10 YP Outstanding Volunteer in Entrepreneurship Award
Purpose:
To recognize outstanding volunteer work in the entrepreneurship field, efforts to improve visibility of Young Professionals amongst IEEE members and the technology at large, and the accomplishment of inspiring other Young Professionals throughout the world.
Eligibility:
Must be a Young Professional belonging to Region 10.
IEEE-USA Entrepreneur Achievement Award for Leadership in Entrepreneurial Spirit
Purpose
To recognize a key individual who has been instrumental in furthering both entrepreneurial growth and spirit in the United States.
Eligibility
The IEEE member has demonstrated this spirit — “creative mindset” (Faltin, 2007) — through perseverance by using their own visionary efforts to create a successful business that has commercialized technology products or services. The IEEE member and his or her successful business have advanced society through commerce and community improvement.
No current member of the IEEE Board of Directors, the IEEE-USA Board of Directors, the IEEE-USA Awards and Recognition Committee, the IEEE-USA Entrepreneurs Activities Committee, or IEEE staff may be candidates, or nominate or endorse candidates for this award. IEEE staff may be candidates, or nominate or endorse candidates for this award.
