Biography

Allan is co-founder and managing partner of Betaspring RevUp Capital as well as a life-long serial entrepreneur and consultant to technology businesses.

Through RevUp, Allan has worked with over 120 high-growth startups and managed a portfolio of companies that has raised more than $50M+ in follow-on funding. As a technology entrepreneur, Allan has founded three venture-funded startups. and is an active angel investor in early-stage technology companies. In addition, he is an advisor helping national, state, and local government organizations on how to better nurture high-growth startup ecosystems.

Allan Tear was the ideator of the IEEE Entrepreneurship Stars Program (previously known as the IEEE N3XT® Stars Program) as well as the Judging Team Organizer for the programs held at Launch 2017, Collision 2017, and Hello Tomorrow 2017. He is a Past IEEE Entrepreneurship Initiative Chair from the 2017 Steering Committee.

In addition to his IEEE Entrepreneurship activities, Allan has worked with IEEE Future Directions on several recent innovations and future thinking projects including road-mapping activities, resource center planning, the IEEE Technology Navigator and is active with the IEEE Industry Engagement Committee.

Allan was a speaker at IEEE N3XT® 2015 Toronto.
