Biography

Mario is a Communication Systems Engineer at MaxLinear in Irvine, California, where he is responsible for the development of algorithms and system-on-chip architectures for high-performance broadband and networking semiconductor products. He received the Ph.D. degree from the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto in 2017, where his research focused on the design of error-correction decoders for low-power integrated circuits targeting multi-Gigabit/second 5G wireless systems and quantum cryptography over optical fiber.

As an IEEE volunteer, Mario is actively involved in the development of products, services, and events that deliver an engaging IEEE member experience. He has played an instrumental role in growing the visibility and sustainability of the IEEE Young Professionals program, spearheading the development of the strategic multi-year business plan, while also helping launch the IEEE Entrepreneurship Initiative and its 2015 launch event, IEEE N3XT® global entrepreneurship summit. He currently serves as an IEEE Technical Expert, providing commentary to the press and media on trending topics such as IoT, security, and blockchain. He is a key player on the team behind the new IEEE Mobile App.

Mario was the Vice-Chair, Digital Presence on the 2019 IEEE Entrepreneurship Steering Committee and has also served as a member of the IEEE Entrepreneurship Initiative Steering Committee from 2015 to 2017.
