IEEE TEMS believes that the success of entrepreneurs and SMEs is an important driver of both industrial and societal advancement.  As such, IEEE TEMS, as an expansion of their entrepreneurship program, held their first pitch competition at TEMSCON 2019 on 14 June 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The conference organizers invited 5 start-ups from Georgia’s Technology Incubator – Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) to compete for two complimentary registrations to IEEE TEMS ISIE 2019, IEEE ICTE 2020 or IEEE TEMSCON 2020.

The winner of the prestigious 2019 IEEE Entrepreneur Award is Walker Inman, Co-Founder and CEO of Lucid Scientific. Lucid Scientific accelerates drug discovery with real-time cell culture monitoring.

The 2nd place winner of TEMSCON Pitch Competition is Baratunde Cola, Founder and CEO of Carbice Carbon.   Carbice Carbon develops new standards for thermal materials.
