In this presentation, Jane will talk about many of the common challenges for deep tech startups including fund-raising, and go-to-market, and how they can be overcome. She will leverage her broad range of experiences to present how to transverse the valley of death, which is common for many deep tech companies.

Jane (Jing) Ge, Founding Manager of Vectors Angel
Jane founded Vectors Angel in 2019 to enable collaboration between like-minded impact-focused companies and investors. Among the verticals that Vectors Angel invested in include new mobility, sustainable energy, sustainable materials, and healthcare. Jane’s experiences include investment manager with Goldwind Innovation Capital, cleantech researcher at Lawrence Berkeley Lab, entrepreneurship program manager at UC Berkeley CITRIS Foundry, and President of the Energy Innovation Network. She holds an M.S. from Cornell University on Sustainable Design Studies and a BAS.c on Energy System Engineering from the University of Toronto.

IEEE Silicon Valley Startup Special Interest Group (SIG) is to foster a network of experienced and budding entrepreneurs to share ideas/best practices and collaborate on startup opportunities. IEEE Silicon Valley Startup SIG is founded by Joseph Wei, Chair-Emeritus of the IEEE Santa Clara Valley Section (SCV) and Consumer Technology Society-SCV, a serial entrepreneur, startup coach/mentor with experience in corporate venture, and in running his own startup incubator.

Mission of IEEE Silicon Valley Startup SIG:

  • Create a network for SCV members and non-members to collaborate on startup opportunities
  • Provide training/workshops on entrepreneurship, founding and growing a successful startup
  • Demonstrate the values of IEEE membership, resources, and network in supporting startups
