STARS @ Hello Tomorrow Global Summit | 2023 Paris, France

By: Lauren Beighley

IEEE Entrepreneurship attended the Hello Tomorrow Global Summit to seek out the first startups to be inducted into the 2023 Stars Cohort, while simultaneously participating and producing IEEE Entrepreneurship Supported Sessions as part of the program in collaboration with the event organizers.

The Hello Tomorrow Global Summit is an annual event bringing thousands of attendees to the forefront of new ideas, uncovering promising new projects across all industries: from synthetic biology to quantum physics to carbon capture.

IEEE Entrepreneurship Star Judges identify competition candidate ventures with engineering-driven innovation at their core that align with the IEEE core purpose to foster technology, innovation, and excellence for the benefit of humanity.

IEEE Entrepreneurship would like to offer the utmost gratitude for the volunteer time and effort of our 2023 Hello Tomorrow Global Summit team of judges:

Andra Keay, 2023 Vice Chair – Partnerships & the 2022-2023 Deep Tech Core Team Lead on the 2023 IEEE Entrepreneurship Steering Committee
Hello Tomorrow was a very impressive showcase for Deep Tech Startups, covering TRL 3-4 up to TRL 7-9. The stakeholders taking part had significant influence, and many startups are being deployed in large-scale projects or are just about to be. I’m looking forward to tracking the progress of these disruptive (and green!) technologies.

Alan Renaudin, 2022-2023 Manufacturing Resources Core Team Lead on the 2023 IEEE Entrepreneurship Steering Committee
Hello Tomorrow is an impressive showcase for Deep Tech Startups: it provides a unique platform for these startups to connect with investors, industry leaders, and fellow entrepreneurs. The conference brings together a diverse community of innovators who are pushing the boundaries of technology and creating solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges. More than a focus on deep tech, I really enjoyed the conference highlights of startups that are leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as AI, biotech, and energy to create new products and services. This focus on deep tech sets Hello Tomorrow apart from other startup conferences and attracts attendees who are interested in the latest advances in technology.

Omar Zahr, 2022-2023 Tech Transfer Core Team Lead on the 2023 IEEE Entrepreneurship Steering Committee
Hello Tomorrow stands out as one of the highest concentrations of ground-breaking deep-tech innovations in the hands of daring and intelligent entrepreneurs that I have ever seen. The energy is infectious, and seeing entrepreneurs and investors truly committed to taking the risks necessary to get these world-enhancing technologies into the right hands left me with a persisting sense of optimism about where we’re headed.

IEEE Entrepreneurship recognizes the following companies as IEEE Entrepreneurship Stars:

Hypersonix is not only ready to launch but also is creating a sustainable green space ecosystem. Australia has been at the forefront of hypersonic technology, and this team is ready to translate years of research into an industry-changing company.

InnovaSpace Ltd is bringing space to research communities around the world via small satellite access, education, professional working groups and outreach, with a focus initially on Latin America. Innova Space focuses on how the community can use space technology for scientific research advances.

Magnotherm uses the compelling properties of magnetocaloric materials to create a cooling cycle similar to the traditional compressor-based Carnot cycle for refrigeration. The result is a different solid-state approach to refrigeration that forgoes hazardous and atmosphere-damaging refrigerant gases.

REEV’s mission is to help millions of people affected by walking disorders overcome their daily disabilities by becoming more autonomous and independent in their movements. To achieve this mission, they are making a custom smart-robotic orthosis that provides light assistance to walk, stand, sit, and climb stairs.
