The IEEE Entrepreneurship 101 Tunisia Workshop was held in collaboration with IEEE Region 8 (Africa, Europe, Middle East) and IEEE Tunisia Section, in Gammarth, Tunis, Tunisia, from 25 – 27 August 2025.

The workshop began with two online sessions prior to the workshop, to orient the participants towards the goals of the workshop and to get their ideas for the market based on the UN-Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs).

Twenty-eight participants from eight countries – Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Iraq, Italy, Libya, Rwanda and Tunisia participated in the workshop and built strong entrepreneurial bonds through their interactions at the workshop and their stay in Tunisia.

The six teams addressed various UN-SDGs, and their ideas were formed by the end of the first day of the workshop.  The teams with their topics were:

  1. Agrisense – an IoT based technology for smart agriculture
  2. E-Bike – an ecofriendly bike rental company
  3. Electro – a waste-to-energy idea
  4. Pass2Green – a carbon-credit tracking software to track carbon credits
  5. Smart Exam – an Edutech idea
  6. Tuniloon – a high-altitude communication network to help emergency workers and farmers

The teams’ final pitches, in the form of videos, were evaluated by a panel of judges who provided feedback to all teams. The Smart Exam team, an Edutech tool to help teachers save time on creating examinations, took home the prize! Smart-Exam team members are Mohamed Aziz Achouri, Prof. Sonia Sahli, Maram Amamou and Vittorio Stile.

CONGRATULATIONS to them and all the teams for their great ideas!

Many thanks to the organizing team — Lauren Beighley & Caitlin Zubrowski (IEEE Entrepreneurship), Dr. Habib Kammoun (IEEE Region 8 Vice Chair, Member Activities), Ken Stauffer, & Dr. Surya Raghu – all of whom planned and worked for more than six months to create this successful IEEE Entrepreneurship workshop.
