Purpose: The award recognizes an IEEE member who exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit through a creative mindset, perseverance, and a commitment to advancing society via technology commercialization and community engagement.
Eligibility:
– Nominees must be active IEEE members.
– Nominees must have founded or led a successful U.S.-based business that commercializes technology products or services.
– Nominees should demonstrate community involvement and a commitment to mentoring future entrepreneurs.
– Current members of the IEEE Board of Directors, IEEE-USA Board of Directors, IEEE-USA Awards and Recognition Committee, or IEEE staff are not eligible to be nominated or to nominate candidates.
Nomination Guidelines:
– Nominations must be submitted through the official IEEE-USA online nomination portal.
– Nominations must clearly demonstrate how the candidate meets the award criteria.
– Self-nominations are not permitted.
– All nominations must comply with IEEE policies and ethical standards.
Judging Criteria: Candidates will be evaluated based on the following:
– Entrepreneurial Spirit: Demonstrated creativity, vision, and perseverance.
– Business Success: Creation of a thriving U.S.-based business that delivers technology-driven products or services.
– Community Impact: Volunteerism and contributions to the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
– Mentorship: Active involvement in mentoring future entrepreneurs.
Recognition: The recipient will receive a specially engraved award and will be honored during an IEEE-USA awards ceremony at a mutually agreed-upon time and venue.
Deadline: Nominations will be accepted through 15 September 2025 at midnight ET. The recipient will be selected by the IEEE-USA Awards and Recognition Committee and approved by the IEEE-USA Board of Directors.
