Knowing What Your Audience Wants at 2016 IEEE Panel of Conference Organizers

On 28 July 2016, Ken Stauffer (pictured far left), 2015-2016 Chair of the IEEE Entrepreneurship Steering Committee and serial entrepreneur, participated in a panel entitled “Knowing What Your Audience Wants” at the recent IEEE Panel of Conference Organizers in Montreal, Canada.

This group of experts from industry, young professionals, women in tech, and entrepreneurs gave insight on what it takes to reach these target audiences. Ken spoke specifically about what entrepreneurs want in an event and challenges faced in getting them to attend events. The key takeaway was proving the value proposition for your event. Everyone needs to make decisions about how they spend their time and their money, so if you want to attract these audiences, you have to ensure you are providing the value that these attendees need.

Other members of the panel included Mario Milicevic, 2015-2016 Chair of IEEE Young Professionals; Gina Tang, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rowan University, Glassboro, New Jersey; IEEE Staff Executive, and Fred Schindler, the current Chair of the IEEE Conferences Committee.
