2020 | New Tools, New Devices, New Fabs: Three change-makers and three pathways in one burgeoning innovation ecosystem
2020 October 06
Location: Virtual
Activate and IEEE Entrepreneurship are collaborating to present New Tools, New Devices, New Fabs: Three change-makers and three pathways in one burgeoning innovation ecosystem!
On 2020 October 06, we will present a live Q&A with the panelists. Fittingly, this session coincides with this year’s IEEE Day, the theme of which is Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow.
IEEE Entrepreneurship is honored to offer innovative events that amplify this theme and connect to our mission to foster entrepreneurial engineering and technological innovation for the benefit of humanity.
Watch the panel session now and get to know the speakers. Then, register for the live Q&A here and send any questions in advance to info@activate.org.
The focus will be on support systems — from funding, to education, to the need for more/better government support and streamlined corporate engagements — for early-stage startups. Learn how a trio of entrepreneurial engineers are launching three very different microelectronics startups as they work to surmount common early-stage challenges and learn about the strategies they are deploying to gain traction.
Speakers
- Nishita Deka | High-performance sensors for neural interfaces
- Mitchell Hsing | Democratizing micro- and nanofabrication
- J Provine | Enabling 1000x improvements in computing

Don’t miss the chance to ask these engineers your questions by joining a live question and answer session with the panelists on October 6, at 4:00 PM.
This is a rare opportunity to connect directly with and learn from, three engineers who are embedded in the burgeoning microelectronics innovation ecosystem. Plus: You’ll hear about their experiences as fellows at Activate—which will soon open applications for its 2021 cohort. Like the IEEE Entrepreneurship community, Activate is solely focused on the success of the engineers it supports. The non-profit does not take equity in fellow-founded companies, and for its fellows receive a stipend, startup training, lab access, and intensive mentorship.
