It is not unusual for a startup to get caught in a quagmire of technical issues which ultimately preclude any chance of success – no matter how strong the idea. In this workshop, we will explore the most common areas where startups stumble when developing their initial product. We will cover concepts such as:
Choosing the right "tech stack"
|Startup Workshop – Technical Crash Course||Arlington, Virginia||2019||Monthly||Workshop||Founded a tech startup but don't know how to code?
It's critical for non-technical founders to understand the basic challenges involved in building a tech startup. Understanding the technical impact of early decisions puts founders in a much stronger position to thrive. This is why startups with at least one technical co-founder have a much greater chance of raising institutional investment than those without one.
Join us for a two-hour crash course to learn the basics. In this session, professional full-stack engineer Dan Kwon will teach you about the basics of backends & databases: What is a REST API? What is a web framework? Should you use Node, Rails or Django? Which database should you use? How do I deal with scalability and security?

|Design Thinking With Mobius||Richmond, Virginia||TBA||TBA||Workshop||THIS IS A TWO-DAY WORKSHOP.
You know what design thinking is, but how do you actually apply it?
Creating innovative products and services with engaging customer experiences is at the heart of design thinking. In practice though, organizations often struggle to connect Design Thinking with Agile and Lean delivery practices. The result is poorly defined customer and business outcomes and teams that build the wrong things faster.
There’s a better way: Mobius is design thinking, applied.
