Biography
Alicia Varughese currently works as an Executive Associate at Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse (PLSG), an economic development engine designed to help establish life sciences companies in Western Pennsylvania. In her current role, Alicia works with entrepreneurs and emerging startups to provide the strategic support necessary for their commercialization success and help evaluate investment opportunities in the medical devices and healthcare IT space. Alicia currently serves on the board of Pittsburgh Entrepreneurs Forum (PEF) as Vice President and serves on the board for PVCA’s Under 40 Emerging Leadership Board (ELB). She also volunteers as a mentor at the Center for Women Pittsburgh to help women in need by providing guidance, help develop effective job searching capabilities, and support to help build confidence and necessary skills for their next personal endeavor.
Before joining PLSG, Alicia worked as a Regulatory and Quality Associate for an early-stage, next-generation cancer diagnostics company to assist them with regulatory strategy and product development process. She has also worked as a biomedical engineer at the Fujairah Hospital (Gulf Drug Est.) affiliated with the Ministry of Health, United Arab Emirates.
She holds a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University, Philadelphia and a B.E. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Calicut, India.
