Biography

Chanaka has been involved in IEEE for over five years, starting as a student member. He is currently serving as the Social Media Chair of IEEE Region 04. He was the IEEE Sri Lanka Section Student Activities Committee (SAC) Chair 2019/20 and IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka Chair-Elect 2019/20. He was the co-chair of the IEEE Presidents Forum 2019 and chair of IEEE Innovation Nation Sri Lanka 2018 in its first year of international expansion. Chanaka graduated from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka where he received his BSc Engineering Degree specializing in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He was working as an Instructor (Teaching Assistant) at the same university while working part-time as an Assistant Secretariat Executive of Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN). He is currently a Ph.D. student and a Research Assistant at Indiana University Bloomington since Fall 2019.

Chanaka is a 2021 Affinity Groups: YPs Liaison on the 2021 IEEE Entrepreneurship Steering Committee and Young Professionals Liaison on the 2019 IEEE Entrepreneurship Steering Committee & 2020 IEEE Entrepreneurship Steering Committee.
