Roberto Della Marina
Roberto Della Marina has received his Ph.D. in Physics at ETH, Zürich, Switzerland. He is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of Venture Factory srl, an advisory company fully dedicated to the management of Vertis Venture 3 Tech Transfer fund (VV3TT) – the first early stage 40MEuro closed-end venture capital fund in Italy entirely dedicated to tech transfer from Universities and Public Research bodies, stemming from the ITATech funding platform, a joint initiative from European Investment Fund (EIF) and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CdP). He also operates as Operative Partner of VERTIS SGR SpA, Napoli, Italy.
After one decade of experience mostly in Switzerland at CERN (Geneva, CH), CSEM SA (Neuchâtel, CH) and Colibrys SA (Neuchâtel, CH), where he managed several Business, in 2003 he accepted the position of VP Business Development and Director of Technology Innovation of Olivetti I-Jet SpA (Ivrea, TO). In 2007 he became General Manager of the Cluster in Molecular Biomedicine (CBM Scarl) in Trieste, Italy, a public-private initiative focused on linking together research centers, companies, institutions and financing bodies in the field of personalized medicine. From 2010 till 2017 he has been Head of AlAdInn Ventures Fund of Friulia Veneto Sviluppo SGR SpA as well as Deputy Chairman of AREA Science Park – an Italian National Research body – as well as of Innovation Factory, its first mile company incubator.
Today he continues to serve as Board Member in several companies and foundations, among those, the Bruno Kessler Foundation in Trento, Italy.
In 2015 he won the AIFI-EY “Claudio Dematté Price – Private Equity of the Year” for the best Italian Early Stage operation.
He holds a Laurea cum laude in Physics from the University of Trieste, is co-author of more than 100 scientific papers (H-index=70, since 2014 H=24, source Google Scholar) and currently teaches Venture Capital, Finance and Innovation in some universities in Italy.
