Subodha has been involved in IEEE since 2011, starting as a student member. He played a major role in uplifting IEEE activities in Sri Lanka, and he was recognized as the best student volunteer in the Asia Pacific region in 2015. He was also awarded the “IEEE MGA Young Professionals Achievement Award” in 2019.
Subodha received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Florida, USA, and his B.Sc. specializing in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. During his bachelor’s degree, Subodha launched a startup focusing on the energy sector of Sri Lanka and is now serving as a member of the board. His company – Alta Vision (Pvt) Ltd. – is one of the market leaders in the Solar PV industry in Sri Lanka. After completing his Ph.D. in the USA, he moved back to Sri Lanka to focus on company growth and to join the Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, University of Moratuwa as a faculty member. His research work and publications in premier international conferences, as well as time spent as an intern at Intel Corporation, has given him substantial experience in the area of embedded systems. His company has also invested in other ventures such as a healthcare center in Sri Lanka, a construction firm, and a design agency.
