Becoming an Ambassador in the Latin America Region Team Entrepreneurship Program

Since its inception in 2018 by our counterparts in IEEE Region 8 (IEEE R8), the Ambassadors Program has become a cornerstone initiative, fostering essential skills such as negotiation, networking, and event organization among young professionals and imbuing an entrepreneurial spirit among participants.

The Latin America Region Team is replicating this successful model in IEEE Region 9 (IEEE R9). If you’re a young professional or a student member of IEEE in Region 9, this is your opportunity to step up and shine, to transform your community, and to pave your path in the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

A Warm Welcome to Our Future Ambassadors

The Latin America Region Team is thrilled to extend a heartfelt welcome to you, our future ambassadors.

Starting now (March 2024) we are calling for passionate individuals like you to become part of the Ambassadors Program. Your role will involve organizing events leading to Entrepreneurship Week with guidance from experienced mentors. Applications are open now. As a reminder, your events must occur between July and September of this year.

Approvals to become an ambassador are done on a rolling basis, ensuring that programs are ready before October.

Why Join the Ambassadors Program?

1. Build your essential skills such as negotiation, networking, and organizing skills, such as event planning and execution.
2. Contribute to instilling the entrepreneurship spirit among your local community, IEEE community, and growing local entrepreneurship activities.
3. Create, encourage, and support local (country and regional) entrepreneurship communities within IEEE
Strengthen your entrepreneurship knowledge and skills by creating learning opportunities for aspiring or early-stage entrepreneurs within the IEEE community to pursue their business project journey.
4. Nurture mentorship opportunities by connecting aspiring or early-stage entrepreneurs within your IEEE community to IEEE and non-IEEE mentors in entrepreneurship
5. Create and grow your network by creating a local (country and regional) entrepreneurship, innovation, and investment network, which the Latin America Region Team can support you to extend and reach to aspiring or early-stage entrepreneurs within the IEEE community.
6. Push to action through competition. Create your local competition platform through pitching to encourage new ideas and startups to emerge from within the IEEE community.

Program Overview

Applications to become ambassadors are open year-round until July, with event approvals on a rolling basis, ensuring that programs are ready before October. Applicants must be IEEE members associated with an affinity group, chapter, or student branch. Each applicant will receive a single gate approval for events within one to two weeks, along with guidelines, responsibilities, and resources. Ambassadors can update their event applications as needed.

From July to September, each ambassador group is assigned a mentor for guidance and support from the Latin America Region Team, with progress monitored through calls and emails. Events must be reported using Vtools.

In October and November, events and ambassadors are to be evaluated by an IEEE committee based on organization, scale, and impact. Awards include recognition within IEEE and monetary rewards.

The IEEE committee will evaluate the events based on their organization, impact, and scale in October and November. Outstanding ambassadors and events will be recognized with awards, including monetary rewards, which will reflect the value and impact of your contributions to the IEEE community and the broader entrepreneurial landscape.
