IEEE TEMS International Conference on Technology and Entrepreneurship (ICTE) is an innovative and unique conference. This event will include a conference that will host an Industry Forum inviting speakers from industry leaders around the world that will provide visions and industry in a rapidly developing technology world. It brings together innovation and entrepreneurship. Attendees are technology managers, scientists, high tech entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. Conference topics include business model innovation, digital transformation, new technology directions, and applications (AI, IoT, FinTech, etc.), managing globalization challenges, and venture capital. The conference aims also to foster knowledge transfer between the academic and practicing communities.

This 3-day conference is composed of the first day devoted to scientific contributes, second-day Industry Forum with talks of leaders and entrepreneurs, and the last day with additional sessions and a special workshop lead by venture capitalists and serial entrepreneurs from the Silicon Valley. IEEE TEMS, the Technology, and Engineering Management Society contributes to fulfilling the growing need of entrepreneurial skills for scientists by organizing the series of International Conference on Technology and Entrepreneurship (ICTE), an innovative and unique conference that brings together innovation and entrepreneurship. In 2020 this symposium will take place in Bologna, Italy, from September 21 to 23, with the technical cooperation of the IEEE Italy Section. A unique place that blends history and technology, education and food, culture, and friendship.

ICTE aims to foster knowledge transfer between the academic and practicing communities as well as to promote entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial skills. The program will include technical presentations on business model innovation, digital transformation, new technology directions, and applications (AI, IoT, FinTech, etc.), managing globalization challenges, and venture capital.

Stimulating experiences and speakers from the Silicon Valley, the greatest entrepreneurial ecosystem in the world, will enrich the conference experience with the special workshop on “From Science to new Venture creation”, in collaboration with the TVLP Institute, the Silicon Valley Institute of Technology Entrepreneurship.

The conference will be a unique venue for scientists and technology innovators to present research achievements that would be applied to business development, innovation, or entrepreneurship, entrepreneurs and industry leaders to share technology directions, business experiences, and case studies, and technology enthusiasts to learn about emerging innovations and entrepreneurship opportunities. This event includes sessions that focus on:

  • Plenary Session on Education for Entrepreneurs
  • Parallel sessions
    • Meetups for small-medium companies/startups in several areas of tech (auto, manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, environment, smart living, digital life, smart cities)

A special plenary session on supporting entrepreneurs will offer an overview of various opportunities that are essential to be successful, encompassing venture capitals, institutional supports from supernational and local entities, incubators, scientific and professional associations (e.g., IEEE), and entrepreneurship institutions (e.g., TVLP). A second plenary session will address the needs of awareness and entrepreneurial education at all educational levels, from the pre-university education to the university programs and the continuing education, including aspects addressing all diversities to make sure that everybody can express her potential.

Meetup opportunities will also be organized to promote interaction among entrepreneurs and possible exploitation of synergies and cooperation in specialized areas, encompassing automotive, manufacturing, agriculture, environment, health care, smart living, digital life, and smart cities.

The above special plenary sessions and the meetups will be organized with the cooperation of the IEEE Entrepreneurship Committee and the Entrepreneurship Committee of the IEEE Italy Section.
