Biography

Whurley is a successful serial entrepreneur and Managing Director at Goldman Sachs. He is the 2017 – 2018 Chair of the IEEE Standards Association’s Quantum Standards Working Group as well as the Vice-Chair for Standards for the IEEE Entrepreneurship Steering Committee. His latest book Endless Impossibilities brings the realities of a quantum future into the present, helping readers understand and prepare for the coming age of quantum computing.

Whurley joined the Goldman Sachs, when Goldman purchased his FinTech startup in 2016. As the founder and CEO of Honest Dollar, Whurley focused on bringing honesty, transparency, and simplicity to the financial services industry. Prior to his FinTech success, he founded and led to success of Chaotic Moon Studios, creative technology studio focused on softwaremobile development and design.

Whurley’s career has spanned over 20 years working for some of the most innovative companies on the planet including Apple Computer, and IBM. He has received numerous awards and recognitions including an Apple Design Award, being named an IBM Master Inventor, and being awarded the 2012 International Genius Grant from the City of Amsterdam. In 2013 he was one of 100 innovators on British Airways Inaugural UnGrounded Flight. Whurley is a published author and frequent public speaker focusing his personal efforts on innovation and diversity.

Whurley was a member of the 2017 IEEE Entrepreneurship Steering Committee and is the current Standards Vice Chair on the 2018 IEEE Entrepreneurship Steering Committee.

Whurley was a speaker at IEEE N3XT® 2016 Austin.
